The Clark County School District (CCSD) and the Clark County Education Association (CCEA) have reached a negotiated agreement for 2021. The agreement, which covers the upcoming school year, includes several notable changes.

One major change is an increase in salaries for teachers and other employees. Under the agreement, all employees will receive a 3% salary increase. In addition, there will be step increases for eligible employees, which could mean an additional 2.25% increase for some teachers.

Another significant change is the addition of a new health care plan option. Employees will now have the choice of selecting a Health Savings Account (HSA) plan as well as the existing Preferred Provider Organization (PPO) plan. The HSA plan offers lower monthly premiums but higher deductibles and out-of-pocket costs. The PPO plan, on the other hand, offers lower deductibles and out-of-pocket costs but higher monthly premiums.

Other changes outlined in the agreement include an increase in the number of paid bereavement leave days, an allowance for employees to use sick leave for maternity purposes, and changes to the evaluation process for teachers.

The negotiated agreement was reached after months of negotiations between the CCSD and the CCEA. Both sides expressed satisfaction with the final agreement. Superintendent Jesus Jara praised the agreement as a recognition of the hard work and dedication of district employees. CCEA President Vikki Courtney called the agreement a “good-faith effort” by both sides.

The negotiated agreement is set to go into effect on July 1, 2021, and will remain in effect for the 2021-2022 school year.

As the new school year approaches, the negotiated agreement between the CCSD and the CCEA provides teachers and other employees with increased salaries and additional benefits. These changes are sure to be welcomed by those who have worked tirelessly to provide a quality education to the students of Clark County.
